Since becoming a Firewise community in 2018, the Smith Creek Ranch Owners Association has made significant progress in wildfire preparedness. Our property owners have been consistently diligent in reducing fuels on their land and volunteering to improve visibility and safety along our primary ingress and egress roads.

A notable milestone occurred in 2023 when 14 of our 19 property owners participated in the Mohawk Valley Fuels Reduction Project. This collective effort resulted in the successful treatment of approximately 90 of our 309 total acres.

The Firewise Committee continues to encourage all owners to remain proactive by reviewing educational materials and implementing recommended measures for home hardening, defensible space, and evacuation preparedness. These efforts are ongoing as we adapt to changing environmental conditions each year.
